Customer requirement
A Korean packaging company specializing in the packaging of school supply and stationery products. The customer was looking for a reliable cut & seal solution for 17 different PP bag formats with varying seam lengths from approximately 110 mm to 225 mm.
The main challenge was to achieve a clean and repeatable sealing quality while combining the cutting and sealing process into one single step. In addition, the customer required a format-independent sealing solution using only one sealing tool for all bag sizes, without the need for tool changes.
Another important requirement was to achieve a sealing cycle rate of 20 bags per minute or higher while maintaining a consistent seam quality and clean appearance.
ROPEX solution
To meet the customer’s requirements, we proposed the ROPEX CIRUS impulse sealing technology with a cut & seal silicone counter profile. The system combines cutting and sealing in one process step, creating a clean and precise seam while eliminating the need for separate cutting equipment.
The CIRUS system with direct active cooling enables a format-independent solution, allowing the customer to process 17 different PP bag sizes with one sealing tool. No format-related tool changes are required, which significantly simplifies the packaging process.
Before implementation, ROPEX conducted local feasibility tests at ROPEX Asia. This allowed the customer to receive sealing samples quickly and enabled the optimization of sealing parameters based on real packaging conditions.
The active cooling of the CIRUS sealing tool improves seam quality and ensures immediate seam stability after sealing. This makes it possible to achieve the required cycle rate of 20 bags per minute or higher while maintaining a clean optical appearance and stable sealing performance.
The required electrical parameters and system setup were provided through a detailed application report, including feasibility results, sample evaluation, sealing parameters, and electrical schematics.
