Splicing fleece fabric with impulse sealing

Customer requirement:

  • Increase efficiency and safety of the roll change of a fleece fabric
  • Enable a reliable and fast roll change without having to stop the machine. As the further transport takes place via turning rollers, the seam must not be too wide and tight, as this could cause problems during material transport.

  • A RESISTRON tool with a narrow heating tape and a matching backing with a flat silicone profile.
  • Thanks to the rapid heating and cooling of the tools and the low heat input, the sealed seam is immediately resilient and stable for further processing in the machine.
  • Reduction of unscheduled faults and a homogeneous seam surface over the entire length and ensures that the roll change is efficient, timesaving and resource-saving.

  • Customer wants to validate this process and wants to convert the reel change process from a manual to a semi-automated process.

  • Developed a suitable RESISTRON sealing tool that was optimized for the process parameters, such as material, pressure and time, in order to produce a repeatable sealed seam.
  • Users make settings directly on the display control of the temperature controller. The tools then automatically seal the two roll ends together so that production of the medical bags can continue without interrupting the material.
